The Oberoi, Mauritius

  • Day 1 -

    You are picked up from the airport for transfer to the Oberoi, Mauritius. The hotel is situated on the shores of the beautiful Turtle Bay, a natural marine park home to colorful coral reef. Spend your first day enjoying the hotel’s vast, lush gardens and sandy beach with splendid sunset views. Have dinner at the hotel’s uniquely located restaurant On the Rocks. Situated atop dark volcanic rocks jutting out into the sea, the restaurant offers fresh seafood from its live grill, wood-fired pizza, pasta, and salads.

  • Day 2 -

    After a hearty breakfast, prepare for some sightseeing. You will be visitingthe town of Pamplemousse located just a 15 minute drive from the hotel. Once there, the first stop isthe beautiful SSR Botanical Gardens.  These gardens boast of one of the best collection of exotic plants across the world and its biggest attraction is the pond filled with giant Victoria Amazonica water lilies. Another popular attraction is the Talipot Palm which flowers just once in sixty years before dying. From there, you move on to L’Aventure du Sucre, a former sugar factory turned into a fine museum showcasing the history of Mauritius, sugar processing, rum trade, and tasting. In the evening, dine at the restaurant in the hotel and enjoy a variety of international cuisine.
  • Day 3 -

    Spend the day relaxing on the beach with drinks. You can also explore the hotel which houses four national monuments from the colonial era. Visit the hotel spa set in a verdant tropical garden and surrounded by indigenous trees to give you privacy. It offers a number of therapies including Western, Ayurvedic, Balinese, Thai, and Oberoi signature treatments which combine ancient knowledge with modern sciences. In the evening, go for The Gunpowder Room, the former gunpowder store and a national monument that has been turned into an intimate dining restaurant with traditional Mauritian or Japanese cuisine.
  • Day 4 -

    Explore the crystal clear azure waters of the Indian Ocean on this day. You can enjoy activities like wind surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, or dolphin watching. If you are traveling with kids, they will love joining the fun in the kid’s club. Spend the evening at The Bar, an open thatched-roof chandelier-lit structure facing the sea offering live music and drinks with amazing ocean views.
  • Day 5 -

    Start your day on a healthy note by visiting the fitness centre or playing a game of tennis. You can also go for a leisurely swim at either The Lagoon Pool or The Turtle Bay Pool (adults only), both offering fantastic ocean views. After breakfast, drive out to the country’s capital Port Louise which is just at a distance of 15 kilometers from the hotel. The main sights include a mosque, two cathedrals, and the Supreme Court building, Natural History Museum, and 18th century barracks. The Port Louis and Caudan waterfront is a must visit for a great shopping experience.
  • Day 6 -

    Get set for a trip to Grand Bassin located an hour’s drive from the Oberoi. It is home to a natural lake called Ganga Talao nestled in the crater of an extinct volcano. The place is also a Hindu pilgrimage site and is home to a Shiva temple located by the lake. Come back to the hotel in the evening and relax at any of the restaurants and enjoy the evening entertainment or simply let the sounds of the ocean rejuvenate your being.

    Enjoy your breakfast and prepare for the drive to the airport.
