Situated in the midst of the beautiful valleys Leh is a place that is going to bring out the hidden tranquil and peace of mind within you. It has majestic silk routes and is also a gateway to Tibet. The place is also famous for the trekking activity to various places that you can visit as well as explore.

Here are some of the famous trek trails in Leh :

1. Markha Valley :-

You will be able to explore the marvellous landscape amongst the 8 days of trek that begin from Spituk to Zinchen. You are able to mingle with the local people and can also experience their lifestyle. Afterwards you trek through Yuruktese that will continue in Day 3 before you treak through the Gonda La Pass covering almost 6-7 hours. On Day 4 you will actually experience the Markha Valley that is located with a calm river flowing.

On Day 5 you will cross through the river and will reach to the Thachungtse. Day 6 and 7 will make you have the spectacular view of the Niamling and Kongmaru La Pass. Spend your night in the rustic village of Shang Sumdo. On Day 8 you will trek upto Hemis and Thiksay Monastery before you will travel back to manastery.

2. Nubra Valley Trek :-

The Nubra Valley is engraved in a tri shaped landscape with the horny shrubs in the fertile soil. The valley of flowers based out in the north of Leh has a lot of monasteries and Passes in its way. A 7 day trek gives out a very warm experience to you that you can very easily discover out through your trekking. You can enjoy the camel ride, visit to the monasteries and can also take you through the route that crosses the Nubra River. In your way you can explore the villages and get acquainted with the local cuisines. Your trek ends at the top ridge of Samstaling.

3. Chadar Trek :-

Do you love to trek on the snow clad river? Think how fascinating it would be to walk over the frozen river. It’s not a dream but a reality when you will begin the trek by walking over the Zanskar River. As the river froze during the cold winters a lot of people take this adventurous trek. Ranging from 6-20 day trek it is one of the most challenging treks of Leh. Drive down from Leh to Chilling and start your walk over the snow.

You will encounter number of frozen waterfalls and can also pass through with some of the beautiful monasteries and an ancient fort in the Zangla village. As the temperature of the place will be very low it is advisable to carry warm jackets and blankets along with you during the trek.

Duration of the Trek: 6-20 days Time: January- February

4. Rupshu Valley Trek :-

Entrenched in the beauty of the Rupshu Valley through undertaking this trekking trail that begins from Rumtse and ends at Tso Moriri. You will be able to pass through the area of Kyamar, Tisaling ,Nuruchan and get rest at the Korzok village. Feel the mesmerizing feeling while engaging with the local men and women.

The 7- 23 days long trek will take you to the most remotest of the areas, wild desert , Indus Valley monasteries and also a glimpse of the Tibetan Border.

Apart from that you will also cross over the rustic villages and get the idea of the local lifestyle of the people.
