How To Plan The Perfect Beach Getaway In Bali

Nothing says beach getaway like a beautiful sun-kissed Island close to the Equator with turquoise waters and lots of exotic culture, and Bali is just the place to get all of this and more. However, when you decide to take a trip to Bali, it’s important to plan it out properly so that you can maximize your fun and relaxation and have an enjoyable and stress-free vacation. When to go to Bali The first thing to decide is when to plan your trip for. With the ideal location of Bali, it receives warm weather all year round, but from November to late April Bali goes through a wet season, which is extremely humid and rainy. Mid May to late October is the dry season, which is ideal weather for a perfect beach getaway for vacationers all over the world. This is also the best time for surfers, as Bali provides some of the world’s most amazing waves during these months. That being said, the wet season also has its benefits with lower prices and fewer crowds of tourists and so, for those of you who don’t mind a little rain and want some peace and quiet on a budget can opt for the off season in Bali. Where to Stay The next thing to do is to book your lodgings way beforehand. This helps you get the best rates at the best resorts and hotels, most of which will be fully occupied if you delay. There will also be a larger number of choices available to you if you get to it sooner rather than later. For a perfect beach getaway in Bali, you should go for something that is close to or directly on the beach. Nothing says paradise like a beachfront villa with your own patch of white powdery sand to lounge and relax on. The Grand Mega Resort and Spa and the Bulgari Hotel are just two examples of the vast number of options available for a luxurious stay in private villas with pools and spas. Komaneka at Tanggayuda is another great resort and a honeymoon heaven for all you newly-weds. Sayang Maha Merta is a quaint little place situated in a village and has rooms housed in homey cottages, and the Febris Hotel and Spa on Kuta Beach is a lovely 3-star hotel; both of these are great choices if you’re on a budget. Keep it short The key to a perfect getaway is to not make it so long that it becomes monotonous and that the novelty and charm of the new experiences you have is lost. For couples looking to rekindle their flame, even 5 to 7 days might be enough, but if you’ve been planning this for a long time and are travelling far with family and friends and spending a lot on air fare, it can easily be stretched 10 to 15 days.  The good thing about Bali is, there is a lot more to it than just sand and beaches, and even if you’ve had enough of the waves there’s always something else that will keep you interested. Pack Smartly Strictly speaking for a Perfect Beach get-away, it is always better to back light so you don’t have to worry about lugging half your wardrobe when, let’s face it, you’ll probably spend the entire time in shorts and a tee. I feel I never do end up wearing half the things I pack on vacations, choosing to maximize on fun activities rather than wasting time on dressing up. For the beach be sure to pack 2-3 different kinds of beachwear; bikinis, swimsuits, swimming trunks and sarongs and cover-ups. A beach bag, beach slippers, and shades and a hat to shield you from the sun are all a must as well, but apart from that, for lazy days under the sun its best to pack casual, with skimpy clothes in light materials; shorts, tank-tops, t-shirts, and light flowy tops and short dresses work best. You can pack one or two formal or semi-formal dresses for a fancy dinner or a night out on the town, and do not pack more than 2 pairs of shoes, which should not include high-heels. What to do in Bali It is important to prepare an itinerary before you embark on your adventure, with a good research on all that you can do in Bali. For the most part you should try to laze around on the beach, enjoy the sun, water and sand, go for a swim, read a good book and drink some exotic stuff.  Balangan Beach, Dreamland Beach, Padang Padang, Balian Beach and Padangbai Beach with its white sand are some of the popular beaches around Bali that you can check out. If you want something a little out of the ordinary and secluded, there’s Gunung Payung which is a hidden beach with some lush greenery. If you’re into active vacations, you can try the amazing surfing opportunities in Bali at Uluwata, Bingin and Balangan, or take lessons in Kuta and Seminyak. Menjangan Island and Biorock Permuteran are both great for snorkeling with breathtaking marine life of over 500 species Divers should check out USAT Liberty Wreck in Tulamben which is an interesting shipwreck dive site. There are also chances of various other water sports like para sailing, flying fish, and underwater scooters, and you can also try reef cruises and day trips to the surrounding islands. If you’ve had enough of the beach, you can always visit the local villages and rice terraces which Bali is known for and experience the local lifestyle and culture. Rice terraces at Jatiluwih and Tenganen village are great choices, as is the seaside village of Yeh Gangga west of Tanah. What to Eat If you’re into exploring different flavors you should definitely try the local Indonesian cuisine with various street food stalls and restaurants selling Nasi Goreng, Bakso soup, Ayam Betutu, Bebek Betutu and Sate Lilit, all of which are must-try local dishes. Babi Guling is the most popular local dish, and I feel the best is served at Ibu Oka. Restaurant Lucawore in Ubud is great if you’re not into international food, and Warung Osin in Amed and Sarong offer some great Indonesian and Chinese food. If you want something a bit budget-friendly, try Sea Circus or Minami, and for seafood, Karma Beach Batu Belig and the freshly caught seafood at Jimbaran Bay served directly on the beach are both amazing. Get a Little Help Such major decisions can still prove to be overwhelming, and so while you do your research be sure to look up some online vacation packages as well that can help you plan out a nice and easy vacation on great rates. Holiday Birds offer some great Bali packages that you can check out and make life that much easier. And remember, vacations are supposed to be relaxing and stress-free, so no need to fret about what you’ll do, just concentrate on having a great time!
